How good is Ben Askren? It seems UFC fans aren’t going to wait too long before finding out.

The undefeated welterweight is heading to mixed martial arts’ top promotion after an unprecedented trade deal was made between the UFC and ONE Championship. Since the news broke, Askren has wasted little time in provoking as many of the UFC stars as he can, targeting the Diaz brothers, Darren Till, Colby Covington, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov with social media blasts.

Certainly, UFC president Dana White seems to appreciate Askren’s enthusiasm, and while he didn’t spill any names, did reveal that the American will face one of the 170-pound’s best on his way in.

“I don’t know, we’re still working on it,” White said, speaking with TMZ. “Obviously he’s going to come into the welterweight division, 170-pounds, and he’s undefeated. He’s their champion, so we’re excited about it.

“He’s definitely going to fight somebody in the top 5.”

Currently, the top five at welterweight not including champion (and Askren’s friend) Tyron Woodley are Colby Covington, Darren Till, Rafael Dos Anjos, Stephen Thompson and Robbie Lawler. Of those five, just Dos Anjos currently has an opponent scheduled.
