Dana White says Jon Jones’ debut in the heavyweight division will be for the title.

Jones recently gave up his own long-held 205-pound world championship as he decided to commit to a heavyweight run, and has been adding weight to his frame over the past few months. And, while it was heavily speculated to be the case, UFC president Dana White has confirmed Jones will be competing for gold from the of.

“We know what he wants,” White said, speaking to TMZ. “He wants the winner of Stipe and Francis, so that fight has got to happen first.

“It should happen this year. It depends if that fight with Stipe and Francis goes off before summer. Then we could have (Jones vs. the winner) happen in the summertime.”

Miocic meets Ngannou in the main event of UFC 260 on March 27.
