When Corey Anderson defeated Johnny Walker via a stunning knockout at UFC 244, he pushed himself into the world title conversation with force.

Despite that, however, Jon Jones appears to be more interested in a match up with alternate contender Dominick Reyes, tweeting yesterday that he’d evaluated the two fighters and felt Reyes offered more of a challenge.

Of course, should that fight be made, it leaves Anderson on the sidelines once again waiting for a fight that makes sense. One name that he’s been linked to on a number of occasions is former title contender Anthony Smith, who has made no secret of his dislike for Anderson over the past couple of years.

Smith publicly challenged Anderson to a match just seconds after the Walker knockout, but according to Anderson, that fight is simply not going to happen and he’d rather wait for the title shot that he feels is rightfully his.

“I have no interest in fighting Anthony Smith,” Anderson said, speaking on The Luke Thomas Show. “I called Anthony Smith out after I fought at 232, and he answered back like two minutes later and said no, so now this time, he got to wait.

“I don’t see anyone in front of me. That’s the point. I beat Jan Blachowicz, I’ve beat everybody that’s fought for a title. I beat all of these guys, you know? Just give me my due, and I’ll let my manager figure out the rest of it. I’m just here to fight. I’m going to train and I’ll be ready.”
