Despite the prospect of the two ever facing each other in mixed martial arts competition being next to impossible, former college roommates Jon Jones and Colby Covington have maintained a robust rivalry while being active members of the UFC roster.

Covington confirmed that he is no longer a member of the team this week, days after his image was removed from their website.

“Nope,” Covington said when he was asked if he was still with ATT. “I’m not a member of the American Top Team gym in Coconut Creek. I’m a member of Colby Covington Incorporated. I’m a member of Colby Covington business, Colby Covington team. Everything. This is my team now. You can direct your complaints at me.”

Well, Jon Jones has certainly directed something at him.

Commenting on Twitter, the UFC light heavyweight champion threw shade at Covington by remarking that the people who new the brash welterweight contender best didn’t want any part of him.

Covington is still awaiting his next move in the 170-pound division after losing a tremendous fight to welterweight champion Kamaru Usman late last year — and according to Dana White, Covington is one of a handful of fighters in the discussion to face Usman in his next defence.
