The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts (BAMMA), arguably the biggest regional MMA promotion in Europe, has signed a broadcasting deal with one of the UK’s largest networks ITV.

The deal will begin on December 15th when ITV 4 broadcasts BAMMA 33: Scope Vs. Lebout from the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle. The card also features the third professional fight of former Geordie Shore star Aaron Chambers who faces Karl Donaldson on the night.

ITV is one of the United Kingdom’s flagship broadcasters. Launched in 2005, ITV 4 boasts an impressive sports portfolio which also includes horse racing, French Open tennis, the Tour de France, live international and Europa League football, live boxing, PDC Darts, snooker and various motor sports.

It is notable that BAMMA secured a UK television deal before Bellator, who regularly hold events in the UK & Ireland without an terrestrial television deal to support them.

“With BAMMA 33: Scope Vs. Lebout on 15th December we will, together with ITV, aim to bring MMA to an unprecedented number of homes in the UK,” said BAMMA managing director Ashley Bothwell. “We can’t think of a more perfect domestic TV partner for the BAMMA brand and believe this deal signifies a significant public and industry acceptance and recognition of mixed martials arts.”
