Alexander Volkanovski has had no equal throughout his UFC tenure to date.

The Aussie is a perfect 10-0 in the organisation to date, a run which has established him as the undisputed featherweight champion and one of the top pound-for-pound competitors on the roster. ‘Volk’ takes on his next test this weekend in the UFC 273 headliner in Jacksonville, Florida where he will clash with the man known by his moniker of the ‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung.

Jung took the bout after former champ Max Holloway, with whom Volkanovski has fought and beaten twice, was forced to withdraw through injury and will take on what will be his second attempt to win a UFC world title after coming up short against Jose Aldo nearly a decade ago.

And per Oddschecker, Volkanovski is the heavy, heavy favourite to have his hand raised in the Sunshine State on Saturday night, with his chances of winning being appraised as 87.5% likely. Zombie, meanwhile, is given just a 15.4% chance of winning according to the same source. Those odds make Volkanovski the biggest favourite in a UFC world title fight since Jon Jones’ win against Anthony Smith back in March 2019.

“Since UFC 235, only three other men’s title fights have seen the favourite given at least -500 odds. Jones v. Smith in 235, Jones v. Santos at UFC 239, and Nurmagomedov v. Poirier at UFC 242. The favourite won all three fights, though the two Jones fights were close. Winning by unanimous decision at 235 and split decision at 239. So, while the odds may say Volkanovski is a special kind of favourite in this fight, bettors know that doesn’t mean this won’t be a close fight,” said OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman.
