They say you should always have a ‘Plan B’.

Given the sheer magnitude of UFC 205, the UFC have added a little extra insurance in the event a late drop-off from the card. Top middleweight contender Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza will weigh in today in New York and will be held in reserve should he be required to be a late replacement in one of the two middleweight fights currently scheduled to take place on Saturday.

What’s interesting is that UFC 205 has already lost a middleweight fight from the card, after issues with his pre-test medical ruled Rashad Evans out of his proposed bout with Tim Kennedy, who was campaigning on social media for a late replacement fight. The Kennedy vs. Evans fight, however, was rebooked for UFC 206.

The two remaining middleweight bouts on the card are Tim Boetsch vs. Rafael Natal and Chris Weidman vs. Yoel Romero.

Jacare’s most recent fight was a one-sided victory over Vitor Belfort at UFC 198 and has won nine of his last ten fights. That one loss? A close decision loss to Yoel Romero.
