Conor McGregor has spoken of his pride after being honoured with the key to city of Miami at a ceremony in Florida on Tuesday.

McGregor remains in the United States as he recovers from leg surgery he undertook in July but as he continues with his rehabilitation work, he took time from his schedule to receive the symbolic honour in a ceremony hosted by Mayor Francis X Suarez.

“The Mac with The Key to The City of Miami!” wrote McGregor on social media. “Thank you Mayor Suarez for bestowing this great honor upon me and with my family present to witness. A very proud moment for me in my life. Thank you! Your hospitality and care for my family and team will be forever remembered. God Bless you and this great city! May the spirit of Miami live within us all.”

McGregor was joined at the occasions by his partner Dee Devlin and their three children, with McGregor uploading several photographs from the engagement to his Instagram account.

The day prior, McGregor visited with students from Academy Charter Middle/High School in Hialeah Gardens, Florida, with McGregor also referencing this on social media after sharing a photograph he took with students along with the caption: “Find what you’re passionate about and go down that route at 100 miles an hour.”
