Max Holloway has suffered an injury and looks to be out of March 3rd’s UFC 222 main event.

Holloway is currently (officially) scheduled to meet Frankie Edgar in Las Vegas, and defend his UFC featherweight title for the second time. Unfortunately, today news has emerged that Holloway will be unable to make that date. ESPN first issued the report. This would be the second time a title fight between Edgar and Holloway has been scuppered, with their UFC 218 date in Detroit last year cancelled after Edgar was hurt in training.

Holloway went on to meet Jose Aldo, defeating him in the third round.

The UFC are believed to be looking for alternatives, but it’s as of yet uncertain what they plan to do.

Currently, the UFC 222 card is as follows:

Max Holloway (c) vs. Frankie Edgar
Stefan Struve vs. Andrei Arlovski
C. B. Dollaway vs. Hector Lombard
Ashley Yoder vs. Mackenzie Dern
Cat Zingano vs. Ketlen Vieira
Sean O’Malley vs. Andre Soukhamthath
Bryan Caraway vs. Cody Stamann
Jordan Johnson vs. Adam Milstead
Beneil Dariush vs. Bobby Green
