Katie Taylor and Matchroom Boxing’s showcase of women’s boxing on Saturday night has gone down as a tremendous success.

Taylor defended her world titles against Miriam Gutierrez with an emphatic performance in the main event, winning the fight on all three of the judges’ scorecards. She did so in front of a huge audience. Per a press release from Matchroom, the fight “generated more than 1.5 million views on Facebook, 550k on Sky Sports’ YouTube live stream and across Sky Sports’ website and apps there were 227k views, with over 600k viewers on Sky Sports’ TV platform.”

“What a night and what a monumental moment on Saturday,” Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn said. “This huge audience got to see a great night of boxing and a performance of pound-for-pound quality. We have made tremendous strides in women’s boxing but the job is still only half done. Together with these great athletes we will continue to push the boundaries.”

Taylor moved to 17-0 in victory, and will now look to bigger names to meet in the ring such as Amanda Serrano or even a crossover fight with mixed martial arts champion Cris Cyborg.
