Katie Taylor is known for being one of the more polite and soft-spoken figures in combat sports but even she couldn’t restrain herself from commenting on Jake Paul’s suggestion that she should rematch Amanda Serrano at featherweight.

Taylor, who defeated Serrano by decision in a classic fight in Madison Square Garden earlier this year, has competed in her professional career at the lightweight and junior welterweight divisions (135-pounds & 140-pounds) and is the undisputed lightweight champion — titles she defended in the aforementioned fight with Serrano.

The mooted rematch, though, has hit some snags. First, it was reported that Serrano and her promoter Jake Paul were not keen on fighting in Ireland (despite initially saying they would) and more recently, Paul has suggested that the two should fight at featherweight (126-pounds) where Serrano is world champion.

But having never come close to that weight in her entire career, Taylor couldn’t quite take the request seriously.

“What is that about?’ Taylor shot back, as I’ve never heard such nonsense in all my life. I’ve never heard someone say something as stupid as that to be quite honest.”

Paul, for his part, wrote back that Taylor — the multiple time World and European amateur champ, Olympic gold medalist and now undisputed, unbeaten lightweight champion in the professional ranks — is too ‘scared‘ to take up the challenge.

Paul, meanwhile, pulled out of his recent scheduled fight with Hasim Rahman Jr amid a row about his opponent’s weight in advance of the fight.
