Jake Paul has slammed Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis after an exhibition bout between the two was cancelled amid allegations of domestic violence against the undefeated world champion boxer.

An exhibition bout between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis was scheduled for November 14 in Miami but was abruptly called off after a civil lawsuit was filed against Davis. The case, brought by his ex-girlfriend, alleges battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment and emotional distress, prompting the promotion and streaming partner to cancel the event.

Paul publicly criticised Davis in strong terms. “Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage,” said Paul on social media. “Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man, you support the most vile sin a man can commit.

“I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account. My company champions women. I’m so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the under-card fighters, to my team at MVP and to my team who worked so hard prepping for this fight. Sacrificing time with loved ones and kids just for this fool to lose his unintelligent mind again. It’s scary that devilish men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power.”

The cancellation comes amid a broader pattern in Davis’s career. He has faced multiple domestic violence-related arrests in 2020, 2022 and July 2025 that ended without charges after alleged victims declined to press them. In the most recent lawsuit filed in October, Davis is accused of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Originally, Paul and Davis were set to clash on November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami after the venue was moved from Atlanta following sanctioning concerns. With the cancellation confirmed, Paul’s promotional outfit announced they would seek a replacement and still intend for Paul to headline a Netflix-streamed event later in the year.

Jake Paul’s boxing career has transitioned from YouTube stardom into mainstream boxing. His most recent fight was a unanimous decision win over former middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr. on June 28 in Anaheim. He holds a professional record of 12-1 with seven knockouts.

Potential replacement opponents for Paul are already being discussed. Among the names reportedly approached are former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and a potential rematch with Nate Diaz.
