For a while there it seemed as if Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal were on a collision course with one another.
This, of course, stemmed from their brief but infamous backstage confrontation in London a few year back but ever since then Masvidal had distanced himself from a fight with Edwards, preferring instead to pursue his own world title opportunities.
But with Masvidal having suffered two straight losses to champion Kamaru Usman, some had suspected that it might be time for ‘Gamebred’ to revisit his Edwards rivalry — but the Jamaican-born Brit isn’t having it as he looks towards his own title shot at 170-pounds.

“My next fight will be for the world title,” Edwards wrote on Twitter. “I don’t want to hear nothing about a guy coming off 2 fight skid and Got KO’d his last fight.”
Since losing a decision to then up and comer Usman in 2015, Edwards has been near faultless in the UFC’s welterweight fold. He is now undefeated in ten straight fights, a record which comes second only to Usman, and scored the biggest win of his career against Nate Diaz in June.
The UFC, though, have appeared strangely hesitant in Edwards’ candidacy for a title shot — but judging by his tweet, that is his absolute minimum expectation for this part of his career.
