Things aren’t quite going Kevin Lee’s way at the moment.
The 28-year-old, once thought of as a stern test for anyone at both 155 and 170-pounds, lost his fourth contest in his last five fights this past weekend when he was outpointed by Daniel Rodriguez in Las Vegas — a result which has left him at a career crossroads.
Lee looked impressive early in his return to welterweight, starting fast but quickly faded in rounds two and three, with Rodriguez finishing very much in the ascendency. The scores, when they came, saw Rodriguez win by unanimous decision (29-28 x3).
And taking to Instagram afterwards, Lee wasn’t impressed with his performance.
“Well, that was a sh*t fight,” Lee indicated on Instagram after his fight, which came in his return to welterweight after undergoing surgery following his loss to Charles Oliveira last year — a fight in which the American missed weight.
Perhaps more concerning for Lee was Dana White’s own post-fight comments in which he appeared to suggest that he wasn’t sure if Lee will remain on the UFC roster.
“That’s a thing that we will get together on Tuesday and talk about and figure out what’s next for him — here or not here,” White said to the media.
