Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder were, at one point, two sides of the biggest fight in world boxing.
As is so often the way with the sport of pugilism, however, the window for the contest passed due to lengthy negotiations with consistent bravado displayed in the public. Depending who you believe, the fault the fight didn’t happen either falls on either Wilder or Joshua’s team.
Recently, Wilder added a new surprise to proceedings when he publicly admitted he turned down more money to box Joshua so he could instead meet Tyson Fury in the ring for a rematch. This Saturday, Joshua meets Kubrat Pulev and with a victory will look to move forward and meet Fury, not Deontay Wilder.
That being said, the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO world champion does admit a fight with the American does still interest him — providing Wilder doesn’t continue to play games.
“He [Wilder] is another challenger. Offer still stands when he’s ready and he’s man enough to not lie, be real. It wasn’t nice when they were trying to tarnish my name. It’ll be good to get [him to] stop [the] PR stunts and get a fight underway,” Joshua said, speaking on the Off The Cuff show on DAZN.
