The (now former) Bellator standout Michael Chandler is widely expected to sign a UFC deal in the near future following the expiration of his contract and he says that he would welcome a bout with the former UFC title challenger Dustin Poirier.
Chandler, 34, defeated Benson Henderson for the second time earlier this month in what was the final fight on his Bellator deal and finds himself in the position of being one of the most in-demand free agents around today. Fight fans have been licking their chops at the potential matchups in the UFC lightweight division for the 21-5 Chandler, with one such potential clash being against Poirier — and Chandler says he is open to the idea.

Chandler posted an image of a diamond — Poirier’s nickname — to Twitter, along with the text: “Man…the public wants it if it happens….”
UFC president Dana White has already announced his intention to speak to Chandler ahead of a potential UFC deal and the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion would be a key addition to what is already one of the UFC’s most talent-rich weight classes.
Chandler holds wins over the likes of Henderson, Eddie Alvarez, Brent Primus and Patricky Freire in his career thus far.
