With the veil lifted on exactly what ‘Fight Island’ entails, the first details are emerging on what we can expect to see take place on the four fight cards set to take place in a two week span at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. 

Earlier on Tuesday, Dana White revealed the details of the planned series of events with the first card — UFC 251 — to take place on July 11 and others to roll out in the days afterwards.

World title fights between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns, and Alexander Volkanovski versus Max Holloway are confirmed for that fight card but with three further to follow in quick succession, it seems likely that UFC matchmakers have their work cut out.

One bout which appears close to confirmation is the long-rumoured Darren Till vs. Robert Whittaker bout, which could likely serve as a title eliminator. The two were tentatively scheduled to headline the scheduled UFC event in Dublin in August, though the organisation have remained tight-lipped as to the viability of that particular event amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Till vs. Whittaker clash was among a batch of upcoming fights described by White to TMZ which also included Alexander Gustafsson vs. Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.
