Conor McGregor’s donation of a million euro has seen around 50,000 masks delivered to frontline staff across Ireland today.
The UFC superstar made the pledge last month, after becoming frustrated with the lack of access medical experts had to safety equipment as they battle the evergrowing coronavirus pandemic. The donation will see more masks and apparatus (including cardiac monitors, oxygen concentrators, face visors and more) gifted next week.
What a day! @TheNotoriousMMA made over €1 million available for sourcing and purchasing PPE equipment and with the driving force of @GalwayLeahy and assistance of @Heroes_Aid we delivered 50,000 ffp2 masks across Ireland today to our every day superheros. McGregor has been a vocal advocate for an entire lockdown in Ireland over the past month — something he argues should include the shutting down of airports and ports — and has repeatedly gone public with speeches and remarks to help inspire his countrymen and women through uncertain times.
“Thank you for all your assistance here Mary and to Heroes aid,” he wrote on his social media today. “I got a good boost this morning seeing our work come to fruition with multiple deliveries made. Hope you are well. Tough 3 weeks ahead, stay strong!”

Huge thank you also to @DixonTransport and our Army for supplying the trucks and working throughout the weekend to deliver the equipment to our hospitals! Thank you men and women. I am extremely grateful!

McGregor’s own personal donation isn’t the only money the Irishman has overseen going to those battling Covid-19. McGregor’s Proper 12 whiskey has also donated $100,000 to the Tunnel to Towers COVID-19 Heroes Fund.
