Add Dustin Poirier to the very short list of names who would want to fight Tony Ferguson with minimal preparation.
Earlier today, Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson was taken off the table for the fifth time in history due to a global pandemic. Despite that depressing fact, the UFC appears set on continuing on with UFC 249, regardless of it having no set location or set headlining act.
Reports have emerged that the promotion are looking into the possibility of having Justin Gaethje step up to meet Ferguson on April 18 instead, although that bout is yet to be confirmed. While the negotiations start behind the scene, a few other fighters are seeing an opportunity to get involved.
Dustin Poirier, for instance.

“Not an ideal time frame or preparation, but any chance I get to prove that I’m the best, I’ll take it,” Poirier said, speaking with MMAJunkie. “I texted Dana and Sean that I would fight Tony.”
UFC 249 is, as of now, set to take place on April 18. It was originally supposed to happen in Brooklyn, New York.
