It was the most-watched event in UFC history and one year on from their historic lightweight title tilt in Las Vegas, Conor McGregor has issued a message to his foe that night, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Rumours of a rematch between the two fighters have been swarming in recent weeks with both McGregor and Khabib, or their representatives, saying that a second contest between the two is a realistic goal. Moreover, it seems that McGregor would ideally like the fight to take place in the Russian capital of Moscow — echoing sentiments recently pushed forth by John Kavanagh.

To add further fuel to the Moscow rumours, McGregor included the name of the city among a sequence of hashtags. Nurmagomedov is expected to next defend the lightweight championship against Tony Ferguson in what would be the fifth attempt to book a fight between the two, but McGregor is certainly hovering around at the top of the division and could likely be ushered in to a title fight if fate was to strike down Khabib/Ferguson once again.

Either way, a McGregor vs. Khabib rematch taking place in Moscow — the undefeated fighter’s own capital city — would have a very ‘Rocky IV’ feel to it, and is exactly the type of challenge that McGregor relishes.
