Noted MMA fan Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has hailed that Jorge Masvidal’s stunning 5-second knockout win against Ben Askren at last weekend’s UFC 239.
Masvidal carved his name into the record books by securing the quickest KO finish in the UFC history. The win was officially recorded at 5 seconds, though could easily have been 2 or 3 had the referee been slightly quicker to jump in. Nonetheless, the win against the previously unbeaten has sent a shockwave through the 170-pound weight class — and beyond.
The Rock, the former professional wrestler turned Hollywood A-Lister, was among those who was impressed by the nature of ‘Gamebred’s’ flying knee, remarking on Twitter that Masvidal served up a “cold and violent” three-piece and a soda in Las Vegas.
You know I did brother. You served em cold and violent – the necessary way. Big luv. #miami #AndNew https://t.co/R186Hh2y0I

Masvidal reached out on Twitter, essentially asking if the Rock smelled what he was cooking last weekend and the response from the ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ actor was affirmative, saying: “You know I did brother. You served em cold and violent – the necessary way. Big luv. #miami #AndNew”.
The win was Masvidal’s second sensational knockout in a row after he silenced a very partisan crowd with his second round knockout of Darren Till in the UFC London main event in March. While The Rock says he wants to see Masvidal receive the next title shot against current titleholder Kamaru Usman, further clarity will be made when Colby Covington returns to the cage to face Robbie Lawler in August.
