Conor McGregor has spoken of his pride at seeing world class Irish boxer Katie Taylor’s success on the world stage as he wished her well ahead of an historic lightweight title unification bout with Delfine Persoon in Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

Undefeated Taylor and the 43-1 Belgian fighter Persoon have long been on a collision course. The victor inside the world’s most famous fighting arena will lay claim to a title haul which comprises of five belts and undoubted dominance of the lightweight division inside the very same structure in which McGregor seized UFC lightweight gold from Eddie Alvarez in 2016.

Despite not suffering defeat in a decade, Persoon enters the fight as an underdog against multiple time amateur World, European and Olympic champion Taylor, a fighter who has yet to be troubled to any real extent in her 13 wins to date.

McGregor, who has been a noted supporters of Taylor for several years, took to social media on Friday afternoon to wish the Bray fighter well ahead of her contest on Saturday night.
