After all the pre-fight scaremongering about Darren Till’s weigh-in for his welterweight title bout opposite Tyron Woodley, it was a fighter in the co-main event who was removed from the card after experiencing trouble before hitting the scales.

Till registered his weight first, flipping the bird at reporters as he registered a weight of 160-pounds — a full pound under the championship weight requirements. His opponent on Saturday in Dallas, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, needed two attempts to clock in at 170-pounds.

His first attempt saw him hit 171 before the magic towel was introduced and he was able to tip the scales at an even 170.

The co-main event, however, was a different story. Valentina Shevchenko successfully made weight for her women’s flyweight title fight but before the weigh-in began, word began to trick out that champion Nicco Montaño had been transported to a local hospital before the weigh-ins began.

A statement released by the UFC read as follows:

“As a precautionary measure, UFC flyweight Nicco Montaño was transported to a medical facility Friday morning due to health concerns,” the statement read. “The scheduled championship bout between Montaño & Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 228 has been cancelled.”

Shevchenko will now not compete on the card. With the weigh-ins now in the books, that was the only card to be affected by the scales.
