UFC 222 still has no main event. It’s been a couple of days since UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway has been ruled out of his title fight with Frankie Edgar, and the promotion are yet to put together a replacement.
Currently, it’s believed the UFC are working on keeping Edgar on the card, likely against up and comer Brian Ortega. But as of yet, that bout has not been booked, meaning Edgar is unsure of his status after the second cancellation of a fight with Holloway.
The UFC have also attempted to put TJ Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt on the card, but Dillashaw has turned down the short notice contest, instead looking to face Demetrious Johnson later this year.
With that being said, it seems that with Edgar looking to remain on UFC 222, and Garbrandt in the mood to return to the cage, should the Ortega fight fall through, the UFC could end up thinking outside of the box.
I'm down for anyone, any fight, any weight class. Let's save this fight card! @danawhite @seanshelby @Mickmaynard2
