At this point, and following his incredibly impressive performance against Donald Cerrone in Poland, Darren Till has been linked with practically every fighter currently without a fight on the UFC’s welterweight roster.
Mike Perry, Colby Covington and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson have all been linked, either by their own words of the recommendations of the media, and now you can add fellow 170-pound standout Kamaru Usman to the list.
Usman had been expected to face Norwegian star Emil Meek at UFC 219 in Las Vegas on December 30th but ‘Valhalla’ revealed on Tuesday that issues with his visa may force his next bout to be postponed and, on a UFC 219 main card currently without a main event and still reeling from the withdrawal of Dominick Cruz from his bout with Jimmie Rivera, you would consider it vital for the card that Usman remains in place in some capacity.
And you know that Darren Till is game.

Usman has been in impressive form since signing with the UFC in the summer of 2015. During his tenure on the roster he was wracked off six straight wins, though has yet to defeat a ‘name’ fighter in the same manner that Till did when he dispatched Cerrone in Gdansk last month.
With Till being listed at seventh place on the newly released UFC rankings, his ascent to title contender status at 170-pounds is drawing ever nearer (if it isn’t there already) but a win for the Scouser against a prospect such as Usman could well serve as a fast track to a title bout.
Both Till and Usman seem interested, time will tell if UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard is on board too.
