Cathal Pendred has wasted no time in moving into another career following his retirement from mixed martial arts in November 2015.

The former SBG Ireland fighter, who fought six times in the UFC, has parlayed his skills into the acting world in recent times and has landed roles in the likes of ‘Ray Donovan’,’Into the Badlands’ and the upcoming ‘Baywatch’ movie.

The Dubliner’s latest post-fighting role is his biggest one yet. It has been announced that Pendred has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming Amazon series ‘Lore’. Pendred will play Michael Cleary who is describes in production notes as – “A cooper who makes barrels for a local creamery, Michael is married to the younger Bridget. When Bridget starts making more money than he does, and starts questioning his decisions, Michael is convinced that his loving wife has been replaced by a changeling — and he will do literally anything to prove himself right.”

Pendred will appear alongside ‘Terminator 2’ and ‘Walk The Line’ star Robert Patrick and it is produced by Gale Ann Hurd of the hugely successful ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘Alien’ series’.

The former Cage Warriors welterweight champion earned 4 UFC victories, including a Fight of the Night comeback victory at his UFC debut in Dublin in July 2014. In addition to his acting career, Pendred is also a franchisee of the ‘Chopped’ health food chain.
