Khabib Nurmagomedov’s withdrawal from UFC 209 has been met with a fairly unanimous amount of shock from the mixed martial arts world, ranging from fans to pundits to fighters.
The lightweight had been scheduled to face Tony Ferguson tomorrow night in Las Vegas, but due to ‘weight management issues’, found himself hospitalised the day before he was set to weigh in. As such, he was pulled from the card, and the fight was scrapped.
Of course, with such big news, many a name took to social media to offer their thoughts. Here are some of the reactions from across the world of MMA:

To severely dehydrated yourself 24 hours before a cage fight is insane and has massive health and performance consequences.

Weight cutting is the biggest problem in MMA. We need a solution where we transition towards fighters competing at their actual weight.

And now, say a prayer for our production team as we go into overdrive rebuilding and reworking the entire show. Better today than tomorrow.
