It seems like Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza’s unconventional search for an opponent has paid off.
Yesterday, Brazilian middleweight contender Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza’s manager Gilberto Faria posted a tongue-in-cheek Craigslist-style advertisement to Jacare’s Instagram page, asking any potential interested parties to contact Dana White and new UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard.
Well, it appears to have worked.
The UFC have announced a bout between Jacare and veteran middleweight fighter Tim Boetsch to take place at UFC 208 in the Barclay’s Centre in Brooklyn, New York on February 11th.
Souza (23-4), a perennial contender at 185-pounds, fought just once in 2016 defeating compatriot Vitor Belfort via first round TKO in May at UFC 198. Boetsch (20-10) last fought on the bumper UFC 205 card in New York in November, where he earned a first round knockout of Rafael Natal.
With Jacare having his hand raised in nine of his last ten bouts, a win against Boetsch would propel the #3 ranked fighter to the summit of the division and potentially awaiting the winner of the upcoming Yoel Romero vs Michael Bisping title fight.
UFC 208 will be headlined by a bout between Holly Holm and Germaine De Randamie to determine the promotion’s inaugural women’s featherweight champion.
