A match-up between two of Europe’s best featherweight fighters has been lined up for the UFC’s return to London on March 18th next, as reported by TheSprawlMMA.
‘Mr. Finland’ Makwan Amirkhani, who is 3-0 so far in his UFC career, will face England’s own Arnold Allen in the UFC’s return to the the O2 Arena in London on St. Patrick’s weekend.
Allen, a former Cage Warriors competitor, has wins over Alan Omer and Yaotzin Meza so far in the UFC octagon and the 22-year-old has been tipped to reach to reach the summit of the sport.
Amirkhani, the only fighter to hold a victory over the uber-prospect Tom Duquesnoy, has proved to be unbeatable thus far in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The Fin opened his UFC account with two first round finishes, one of which took him just 8 seconds, but a win over Allen would underline his status as one of the 145-pound division’s most fearsome up n’ comers.
Amirkhani has spent some time training in Dublin under the tutelage of John Kavanagh on the mats at SBG Ireland and already knows what it is like to defeat an Englishman on home soil, after outpointing Mike Wilkinson in London in February of this year.
A main event for the UFC’s return to London has yet to be announced but you can expect some of Europe’s top talent to be sprinkled throughout.
