Another Irish fighter has a date with the Big Apple.
After the last minute cancellation of Neil Seery’s retirement bout in Belfast last month due to illness hitting opponent Ian McCall as he was preparing for his weight cut, the UFC have re-booked the original bout and placed it on the card for next year’s UFC 208 in Brooklyn.
Seery, the Irish MMA veteran, had stated that he would retire after the McCall bout in Belfast but delayed his plans to step away from the sport when McCall was forced to withdraw. The bout now takes place on the high profile Brooklyn card on February 11th in the Barclays Center.
Rumours suggests the card might be headlined by the featherweight championship match between José Aldo and Max Holloway, while the first even women’s featherweight champion will be crowned on the card in the recently announced Holly Holm vs. Germaine De Randamie fight.
Jared Cannonier and Glover Teixeira will also meet in Brooklyn in a light heavyweight contest.
