Much has been made of Ronda Rousey’s year long absence from mixed martial arts.
Following her loss to Holly Holm back in December, Rousey took a hiatus not just from the sport, but also withdrew from public life. Previously having been seen frequently adorning the covers of magazines or engaging in high profile interviews, for nearly 12 months, Rousey has been radio silent.
While some mentioned minor surgeries and recovery being a factor, UFC President Dana White believes that the former bantamweight champion was more unhappy with the manner in which her loss was covered.

“Her biggest issues, in my opinion, were with the media,” White said on Jay & Dan. “She just felt like the media completely turned on her when she lost. Not abandoned, but felt attacked. Felt like these people in the media that she gave three years of her life, cruising around giving interviews to, completely turned on her when she lost.
“The media can irritate you. If you go through something traumatic like she did, and losing and everything else, and you have to sit and listen to some of the things that are being written and said, I get it.”
