Belal Muhammad’s first welterweight title defence will have to wait.

Muhammad, who won the UFC’s 170-pound title from Leon Edwards this past summer, was set to defend his title against the unbeaten Kazakh fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov at the last major UFC event of the year, UFC 310, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 7 — however, ‘Bully’ has taken to social media to confirm rumours that he has been forced to withdraw from the bout.

“Caught a bone infection in my foot,” Muhammad said in a post to Instagram, along with various pictures of his swollen left foot.

“Had to put a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line in my arm for IV antibiotics the next six weeks with no physical activity. Allah’s plan is the best plan. I’m sorry to everyone that were coming to see me. I’ll be back soon. Inshallah.”

There is no confirmation as of yet as to whether the UFC will seek to identify a replacement for Muhammad on the card or if they will push the fight back into the new year.
