Three-time UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington has said he is open to fighting Ian Machado Garry — provided that the Irishman fulfils three criteria.

Former Cage Warriors champion Machado Garry moved to 7-0 in the UFC (14-0) overall at last month’s UFC 298 event in Anaheim, California where he scored a split decision win against perennial top-ten fighter Geoff Neal. Afterwards, the 26-year-old Dubliner issued a challenge to the experienced Covington, saying that the American fighter “doesn’t have a choice” but to fight him.

“He’s going to do what he’s f*cking told,” Machado Garry added to at the UFC 298 post-fight presser, “and he’s going to fight a young upcoming prospect, so I can f*cking take him out of the division, wipe him off the top 15.”

And even if it took the best part of a month for Covington to respond, respond he did in own unique style.

“Ian Garry, you translucent cuck, you wanted my attention, now you got it,” he said in a video posted to social media on Wednesday.

“Everybody knows why you want to fight me, Ian. I’m the biggest star in the division. It’s big city, bright lights, and the most attention and eyes you’re ever gonna have on you when I fight.

“Everyone knows what’s in it for you, Ian, but what’s in it for me? Why do I have to go down in the rankings and fight some Casper-The-Ghost looking Irish kid who has a gold-digging wife? Let’s come to a compromise. If you can meet these three stipulations, we have a fight.”

The conditions proposed by Covington in the brief social media clip involve him turning on his social media comments ahead of the proposed fight, as well as two others involving Machado Garry’s wife Layla — which you can see in the video clip above.
