The list of possible challengers to Alex Pereira’s light heavyweight title will get a bit smaller post-UFC 311.

This weekend in Inglewood, California former 205-pound champions Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill will do battle in a fight that will re-establish the winner’s title credentials at 205-pounds — and consign the loser a few notches down the ladder of challengers.

But according to the Czech fighter, his American opponent Hill might be too focused on scoring revenge on Pereira for his first round knockout loss at UFC 300 last April, and ignoring the test the awaits him in the cage late on Saturday night.

“It’s a big mistake [if he is],” Prochazka told the media on Wednesday, including The Mac Life, when asked if Hill is looking past him.

“When you are not focused on what’s right before you, and you’re looking for another opponent, it will cost you a lot. Who are you? It’s just about staying humble, staying focused on what’s before you.”

Prochazka has his own motivation to step into the cage for a third time with the champion after coming up short against Pereira in their previous two fights — his only two losses in the past ten years.

“I don’t speak about other opponents, about who will be next,” he explained. “Even if I said that I want to fight Alex Pereira a third time because I believe in myself, I believe in my style, in my changes of my style, changes in my personal lifestyle, everything. No. This is not the place right now. There is Jamahal Hill here this Saturday. I want to win and I’m going to win this fight, and then we can talk about others.”
