Jiri Prochazka will look a little different when he enters the cage in Inglewood, California on Saturday night to fight Jamahal Hill.

Speaking at the UFC 311 pre-fight press conference on Thursday, the shaven-headed Czech elaborated on the reasoning for getting rid of his locks saying that he did so in solidarity with a girl who was battling cancer.

“This hair was inspired by Ashley [McGarity],” Prochazka said. “That girl, she’s fighting with cancer. She will come tomorrow.

“This is my showing solidarity,” he added. Because it’s about sending the good energy. Yesterday, I reached 1 million followers on Instagram so I will give for each other 1 million [Czech Koruna] by my foundation to oncologist patients. Martial arts has something to give back, it’s all about good energy.”

The sum donated by Prochazka comes to around $50,000 — a figure UFC CEO Dana White committed on stage to matching.
