Every now and again the UFC will book a matchup that features two fighters who appear to be chiseled from granite. This is one of those fights.

Back in August 2019 Paulo Costa, who sported a perfect 12-0 record at the time, was paired with Yoel Romero in a bout to determine the next challenger to Israel Adesanya’s middleweight championship. What followed was a bruising, three-round affair between the two with Costa ultimately being awarded the judges’ decision. He would go on to fight Adesanya 13 months later, where he was defeated by second round TKO by the then-champ.

In June’s UFC 302, Costa returns to the cage where he will face former 185-pound kingpin Sean Strickland in a bout that will provide further clarity to the middleweight rankings ladder.
