Gregory Rodrigues is one to watch at 185-pounds.

‘Robocop,’ a veteran of the Kill Cliff training camp in Florida, takes on the former middleweight title challenger Jared Cannonier in the UFC’s event in its Apex facility outside of Las Vegas this weekend, knowing that a win in his most high profile fight to date could usher him into the 185-pound rankings ladder.

He has all the tools to do just that. A martial artist since the age of 5, Rodrigues is a Henrique Machado black belt after which he would become eight-time national jiu-jitsu champion, jiu-jitsu world champion and professional world champion in Abu Dhabi in addition to being a talented wrestler close to Olympic level.

However, despite his grappling prowess it is Rodrigues’ fists that do much of the talking — as evidenced by an impressive ten KO or TKO finishes in his 16 career wins.

And if he can repeat the achievement against the hard-hitting Cannonier this weekend, we might just have a new player towards the summit of the UFC’s middleweight fold.

Check out his TKO win over Brad Tavares below.
