Amid the late changes to this weekend’s UFC 303 card, one consolation is we get to see a fascinating featherweight clash between two of the sport’s best finishers, Diego Lopes and Brian Ortega.

Brazil’s Lopes is about as entertaining a fight-ender as exists on the UFC roster nowadays. The 29-year-old Brazilian has gone to decision just six times in his 30-fight career to date, wracking off ten knockouts and twelve submissions over that time to garner a reputation as a fighter on the verge of title contention at 145-pounds.

For that ambition to become a reality, though, he will have to bypass Brian Ortega — a fighter who has previously navigated a path to a title shot of his own, and who appears to be on the verge of a move to lightweight.

But judging by Lopes’ UFC 300 win against the tough Sodiq Yusuff, he looks to be heading into his prime.
