UFC boss Dana White has said that the organisation’s newest performance institute in Mexico is its best such facility yet.

Ahead of this weekend’s fight card in Mexico City, White attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility in the Mexican capital which is expected to fully open its doors this coming April.

“This has been a dream [or] goal of mine for a very long time, going back to 2001,” White said of UFC Mexico PI, which is hoped to provide a fertile foundation for mixed martial arts to grow in the Latin American country.

“I was just saying to these guys to be walking the halls, looking at the gym — this incredible facility is amazing. I’ve wanted this for a long time, so I’m very excited. Thanks to everybody who made this happen.”

White, who was joined by UFC execs Hunter Campbell and Lawrence Epstein, as well as a host of fighters including Alexa Grasso and UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja, added that the facility is even more impressive than those that came before it in Las Vegas and Shanghai.

“The first facility we did in Las Vegas, then we did China, and now we’re here,” he said. “It’s better and better and better and better every time we build one. Now you can honestly say that the PI in Mexico is the best Performance Institute in the UFC, without a doubt. This place is incredible. As we keep building and learning, we keep getting better.”
