This is a new one.

Those of us who have spent more than a few years on the sidelines of mixed martial arts may have thought we’d seen pretty much everything the sport has to offer, be it in-cage brawls before and after fights or a succession of gnarly injuries which have left limbs and joints contorted in an array of different — and painful — angles.

But think again. Recently, a mixed martial arts bout in Russia had to be (very briefly) delayed after a cameraman who had entered the cage to film in-between rounds and , sort of, stayed there as the referee began the fourth frame. The round opened with a takedown, with one fighter taking the other to the canvas all while an electric cable was draped through the cage — after which the referee, who probably should have known better, paused the fight to kick him out.
