The war of words between feuding featherweights Bryce Mitchell and Jean Silva has intensified.

On Saturday night in one of the most anticipated fights on the UFC 314 card from Miami, Florida, Mitchell will fight for the first time since he made controversial comments regarding Adolf Hitler during a podcast appearance in January — a scenario which drew extreme condemnation from the fight community and led to UFC boss Dana White bemoaning the American fighter as “dumb.”

And Mitchell, who makes no bones of his strong Christian beliefs, appears of the opinion that this weekend’s contest with Brazil’s Silva — a fighter known for being one of the best finishers on the roster — is more than just a battle between two men.

“He says that he loves Jesus, but he calls himself ‘Lord’ and he doesn’t act like he loves Jesus,” Mitchell told the media, including The Mac Life, from the Sunshine State during Wednesday’s media day.

“He doesn’t treat me with respect. So I go based off of that. Based off my interactions with him, he does not have Jesus in his heart because he treats me like total shit and I’m not afraid to say that to his face. If you love Jesus, then treat people with respect and that’s not what he does.

“Jesus has two commandments: To love the Lord your God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. Does he treat me as he treats himself?”

Silva comes into the fight on the back of 11 straight wins, with 10 of those coming inside the distance but Mitchell believes that this trend will reverse when the cage door closes on Saturday night.

“I’m going to personally whoop his ass,” he said.
