What’s that they say about like father, like son?

Kalyl Silva proved that the apple certainly fall very far from the tree in his household after the 22-year-old needed just a handful of seconds to dispatch Anthony Reynaga in what was a 159-pound contest. The fight ending left high kick was landed after just five seconds into the bout, with the fight called by the referee just six seconds later.

Kalyl’s famous father was on hand to watch his son’s handiwork, marking the second successful combat sports debut by one of Silva’s children after Gabriel Silva did the same in 2019. The elder Silva sibling had also been expected to compete on the card, which was in California, but was forced to withdraw due to injury.

As for Anderson Silva himself, his son’s win caps a satisfying few months which also saw him easily defeat former boxing world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. several weeks ago — with ‘The Spider’ currently understood to be in negotiations to box fellow former UFC champion Tito Ortiz on the undercard September’s Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort fight card.
