While we can’t help escape the feeling the the UFC are missing a trick by not having a single Diaz brother, nor holding the event in Stockton, UFC 209 has more than enough about it to hold our attention.
Two long-standing rivalries will be settled on Saturday night. In the main event, welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and challenger Stephen Thompson will look to settle the logjam atop the 170-pound division in a rematch of their drawn bout at UFC 205 last November. In the co-main event, and after having their bout cancelled and rescheduled on numerous occasions, top lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov will finally step into the cage together to determine the consensus number one contender to the UFC’s lightweight title. You can take a peak behind the curtain in the second episode of UFC 209 Embedded below.
