Carlos Ulberg captured the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 327 but faced questions post-fight over both a knee injury suffered during the bout and Jiri Prochazka’s claim that he showed restraint after noticing it.

Ulberg secured the finish despite visible issues with his knee and later addressed the situation during a post-fight press conference, where he reflected on the significance of the victory and the challenges he encountered inside the cage.

“It is all over the place at the moment,” Ulberg said to reporters at a post-fight news conference. “It hasn’t really sunk in. The team is happy. We’re happy we came in and got the job done. That’s what we are here for, is to get that title – and we did that.”

Ulberg said he adapted during the fight rather than allowing the injury to derail his performance, adding: “It’s just adapting on the fly. We’ve had issues like this before. We’re in a big fight. You expect things like this to happen. I never counted myself out at any moment. We knew that this was going to be an issue at the time. How do we adapt to it?”

He also rejected Prochazka’s suggestion that he eased off after recognising the injury, stating: “No, I don’t think that. I think he made the mistake there because I would not have done the same. If you’re in there to get that title, you do whatever it takes to get that win.”

Ulberg is awaiting medical scans to determine the severity of the knee issue and said he is not focused on potential opponents while his recovery timeline remains unclear.

“I’m not too sure who else is there,” Ulberg said. “We leave it up to the guys who know what they’re doing. I just get myself into the gym and prepare for whatever is next.”

The victory adds a UFC title to Ulberg’s record, with his performance and post-fight comments highlighting both his ability to compete through adversity and the contentious nature of the bout’s decisive moments.
