The UFC’s latest event in Perth officially has a main event.

The event, which takes place in the Western Australian capital on September 28th, will be topped by a light heavyweight battle between light heavyweights Dominick Reyes and the New Zealand-born title contender Carlos Ullberg, according to a late Tuesday announcement by UFC matchmaking officials.

The bout pits the former title challenger Reyes, who has now pieced together three straight wins to overcome a four-fight losing streak between February 2020 and November 2022, against Ullberg — who has highlighted himself as one of the division’s standout strikers amid his 12-1 career record thus far.

Ullberg was last seen in March where he scored a unanimous decision win over former champion Jan Blachowicz. Reyes, by comparison, last fought in March where he knocked Nikita Krylov out in the first round. All three of his recent wins have now come inside the distance.

Further bouts are expected to be announced in the comings days and weeks. In his first comments following his decision loss to Reiner de Ridder in last weekend’s UFC event in Abu Dhabi, Robert Whittaker suggested that he would ideally like to return to action in his home country fight card.

Other bouts already confirmed include:

  • Dominick Reyes vs. Carlos Ulberg
  • Dooho Choi vs. Daniel Santos
  • Rodolfo Bellato vs. Navajo Stirling
  • Loma Lookboonmee vs. Alexia Thainara
  • Josias Musasa vs. Colby Thicknesse
  • Luana Carolina vs. Michelle Montague
