Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury will return to the ring on 11 April to face Arslanbek Makhmudov in the UK, ending his latest spell of retirement.
The bout will be broadcast on Netflix and will be Fury’s first contest since losing his rematch with unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. The 37-year-old announced his retirement a month later before confirming his comeback earlier this month.
“Excited to be back,” said Fury, according to BBC Sport. “Heart’s always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!”
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren also welcomed the return, saying, “Tyson wants to return to the throne and I’m 100% behind him to do just that.”
The contest marks Fury’s first fight in the UK since December 2022, after three successive appearances in Saudi Arabia. The event is backed by Turki Alalshikh under the Ring Magazine banner, despite Fury being promoted by Queensberry Promotions, which has an exclusive broadcast arrangement with Dazn.
Fury has won 34 of his 37 professional bouts, with 24 victories by knockout, and has held world titles on two occasions. His two career defeats came against Usyk in 2024, and he has spoken of a desire to avenge those losses as he targets further world title opportunities later this year.
Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov enters the contest with a record of 21 wins from 23 professional fights. The 36-year-old secured his most recent victory in October, when he defeated Briton Dave Allen, and will face Fury in what represents the highest-profile bout of his career to date.
