TJ Dillashaw was not to be denied.

As the UFC bantamweight champion met his longtime rival Cody Garbrandt in the main event of UFC 227, there were plenty of questions as to who held the edge in what seemed a 50/50 fight. At the end of the first round, we had our answer.

As Garbrandt came on typically aggressive, Dillashaw met him in the centre of the cage and was game. In the end, it was Dillashaw’s game that emerged superior. Dillashaw clipped Garbrandt with a punch that sent the challenger reeling, and a follow up knee in the clinch ended the bout.
