A welterweight bout between two of the division’s most exciting strikers looks set to take place at UFC 215.

According to MMAFighting, a bout between Thiago Alves and Mike ‘Platinum’ Perry is expected to be announced for the upcoming UFC 215 card. No date or venue has yet been announced for the pay-per-view event, though it will likely take place in mid-August.

Perry has gathered a reputation as a fearsome striker, who refuses to take a back step in his wild brawls. That style saw him earn a KO of the year contender against Jake Ellenberger in his last fight. Its limitations were exposed in his prior fight against Alan Jouban, whose pinpoint striking contributed to Perry’s first career defeat last December.

Alves, meanwhile, returned to 170-pounds after unsuccessfully testing the lightweight division against Jim Miller in November, rebounding with a decision victory against Patrick Cote.

No further fights have yet been revealed for the card but, as per MMAFighting, it is understood that this is the event being targeted to host Demetrious Johnson vs. TJ Dillashaw, but that’s a whole other story
