Gable Steveson has officially signed with the UFC and is set to make his debut this summer during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
The 25-year-old heavyweight prospect, who transitioned from a decorated wrestling career into mixed martial arts, was present alongside his mentor Jon Jones at UFC 327 in Miami on Saturday night when news of his signing was confirmed. Steveson is scheduled to compete at UFC 329 on July 11, although his opponent has yet to be announced.
Steveson is widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight freestyle wrestlers of all time, having won Olympic gold in 2020 in addition to securing two NCAA Division I championships and two Dan Hodge Trophy awards during his collegiate career.
His move into MMA had long been anticipated, and he made his professional debut in September last year under the LFA banner. Since then, he has compiled a 3-0 record, beginning with a TKO victory in 98 seconds, followed by a 24-second knockout and another first-round TKO finish.
Those performances were sufficient to secure a UFC contract, with the promotion adding Steveson to its heavyweight ranks ahead of a high-profile debut during one of its marquee events of the year.
Standing at 6ft 1in and weighing 265lbs, Steveson enters the division with strong wrestling credentials and an emerging all-around skill set, positioning him as one of the most closely watched new arrivals in the heavyweight division.
