Drake is always a welcome sight at the Las Vegas sportsbooks.

The Canadian rapper, a longtime fan of combat sports, has generated countless headlines for his mammoth bets ahead of prizefighting spectacles. The problem, both for him and his bank manager presumably, is that he seems to lose a lot more than he wins — to the point that his association with high profile athletes has been referred to as the ‘Drake curse,’ given that many who have had his financial backing have gone on to lose their in the next contest.

The most recent example of the Drake curse, who backed Sean Strickland to defeat Dricus du Plessis in their middleweight title fight earlier this year. Du Plessis won the title by split decision. This came months after Drake placed a $500,000 on Israel Adesanya defeating Strickland in their bout last year. Strickland won that fight by unanimous decision.

Before that, Drake bet a cool $1.2 million that Jake Paul would defeat Tommy Fury, only for Fury to claim the win. The list goes on.

And now, Drake’s prediction for Friday night’s Francis Ngannou vs. Anthony Joshua bout is in — and it’s bad news for ‘The Predator.’

According to a betslip posted to social media early on Friday, Drake has placed a bet of $615,000 for Francis Ngannou to triumph in his bout with Anthony Joshua — a wager which, if he is correct, could provide him with a payout of more than $1.9 million.

“Betting on a scary man,” Drake wrote on Instagram of the bet. Given his less than stellar history when it comes to pre-fight predictions, some of Ngannou’s supporters might well be wishing that Drake kept his wallet in his pocket on this occasion.
